Aware Citizen Foundation is a Non-Government Organization(NGO) based out of New Delhi, working towards building consciousness and awareness on issues like sexual harassment, education, health & hygiene, and other critical issues related to youth and women in particular. Aware Citizen Foundation also works to identify and eliminate gender-based barriers through workshops, education, and training.
The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 is a legislative act that seeks to protect women from sexual harassment at their place of work. The Act came into force on 9 December 2013. This statute superseded the Vishakha Guidelines for the prevention of sexual harassment introduced by the Supreme Court of India.
Unfortunately, it was reported by the International Labour Organization that very few Indian employers were compliant with this statute. Most Indian employers have not implemented the law despite the legal requirement that any workplace with more than 10 employees needs to implement it.
The government has threatened to take stern action against employers who fail to comply with this law.
Aware Citizen Foundation an NGO working towards gender equality in the workplace helps organizations across India to implement the provision of acts to make organizations totally compliant with the law. We provide the following services:-
- Training and Workshops for employees
- Orientation programs for ICC members
- Drafting anti-harassment policy in tune with Law
- Providing posters and other relevant communication material.
- Drafting annual report and submitting it to the relevant authority.
- Empanelling external members in ICC
